i have a notebook compaq presario cq40 .. with vista in it...

i really really want to downgrade it to xp .... vista irritates me...

i tried to install xp on my notebook... but i am stuck up on the blue screen
with error message in it..i dont remember the error message.. its too long..

please tell me what do you need to help me... and if you have a solution.. please
instruct me how to do it...

Hello, and welcome to this forum. Thanks for having the time to write here, I would be glad to help you with your problem.

Yes there is a way to bypass the bluescreen, and usually there are two ways to do that. The first would be to enter the BIOS and change the hard disk mode to Compatible.
Since I haven't used your model, I can't tell if this option exists in your BIOS, and if it does how to change it.

The second one would be to make a windows xp installation disk with the Mass Storage Drivers integrated. I will make a guide on how to do that. It should be ready within a few days.
Please have the patience to come back and check again when it will be ready.

I've had a cq40 for 6 years lol with no problems. It's slow as hell now though. Can anyone recommend a good laptop for an upgrade that's less than $500?
